Today my paintings have left my wee flat and have landed at the wonderful Embo Deli at Elm Row Edinburgh. They will be exhibited in Embo for a month and I highly recommend a visit as their food is delicious and what a wonderful quirky cafe.

Starting to really wish i had a good camera to capture these paintings better. All photos uploaded are taken from my phone camera and look a bit sketchy. Anyways this is another seascape. Not completely sure that its finished yet but for just now i'm done. Might come back to it in a few weeks.

So i've never painted with oils before but i bought a wee set and had a go. Once i have a proper set I dont I think ill go back to acrylic again. Oil is so much harder to work with but the result is amazing. Dont think this is a very good photo but the atmosphere and finish is just wonderful. So smooth.

Progress on this painting has ceased as Ive run out of paint again. Its an expensive hobby this. Ive used an entire bottle of white paint in 3 hours. Not really sure where to go with this but Im going to leave it for today and see what happens.

Ive ran out of blue paint for just now so the seas and sky's are out of fashion for just now. This painting is sadly already sold but just letting you all have a wee look. Its a light house in a lightening storm. Canvas was 4 different paintings before this final outcome so the paint is very thick and textured.

So after the weekends excitement its back to studying and painting. This is a little (huge) something im working on. Basically i want it to be a really cloudy sky with a cheeky bird but all sort of smudged to make it look like its raining. This is the idea anyways...quite often i start off painting something and it comes out an entirely different thing. I feel this one may take all week so ill keep you all posted on how its going.

Well ill tell you, im the happiest person alive. I sold my first painting today and i almost cried. It is the middle left picture and by next week it will be off to a new home. This must mean i'm an artist now. What a smile haha.
Today i have some of my work exhibited at wasps art studio open day at West Park Place in Dalry Edinburgh. 11-5 Sat 12-5 Sun. If you like my work come see it in the flesh. There is an added bonus of nice cake and soup at the wee cafe.

This is another peacock painting. I work from imagination so i seem to end up painting the same things. I names this painting Parisa as the name means bird of paradise and it is also my best friends name. I like the colours but would have like a few warmer tones to be present. I may go back to this painting to touch it up.
I textured this canvas before i painted on it using thick lines of acrylic paint. I then painted over this which gives it an nice rough look. Due to the camera quality i dont think it is obvious in this picture. There is not much in the painting but i felt it was finished and i try to stick with my instinct with paintings in fear i may over work them.

I painted this today and called it "House". I havent painted a nights sky including a moon in a while but i really like how this one has worked out. Its only a wee canvas but very cute. In my latest paintings i have started using paintbrushes and you can see how this changes the texture of the painting. My most current images are a lot smoother with much finer detail.

I cant decide what to call this piece. Any ideas? I put up 3 photos to show how the painting has progressed. Canvas size 60x80. Picture inspired by a trip to the Blair Drummond Safari Park where i saw a particularly cute peacock. Thought I'd paint him.
As I've only just started this blog I'll have to go back in time with my paintings. I painted this piece on the 10th of September for my boyfriends flat warming present. He created a song to go with it so I will include a link to that for those interested. I'm happy my creativity influenced someone else. It was not taken from any images but from my imagination. To create texture i used bits of cardboard, a pallet knife, rollers and blended with my fingers... who needs paintbrushes.
